Greetings Relatives/Frens/Humans, May the Sacred Holy Beings Bless us all, and that includes All of Life on Mother Earth and Between Mother Earth & Father Sky, with Nizhoni health & safety.
The 25th Navajo Council Naabik’iyati Committee is scheduled to convene at 10 am, today, 3.9.23, in the Dine’ Female Hogan that our Navajo govt uses to meet and call the Navajo Council chambers in Window Rock, Ariz., the Navajo govt’s headquarters.
And FINALLY, the Navajo Council has Turned Back On its YouTube channel for today’s Naabi meeting. Livestream will be available online at YouTube: www.youtube.com/navajonationcouncil
And Law & Order Committee member Herman Daniels and Resources & Development Committee member Rickie Nez have brought back their proposal/Legislation 0025-23 to spend $60 MILLION of the Navajo Nation govt Land Acquisition Fund to buy the Goulding’s Monument Valley Lodge & Tours, which Daniels and R.Nez presented to the 24th Council on their last day to act on legislation in December 2022. AND Get This, they presented their $60M hotel deal as an EMERGENCY because there was a complaint that patrons were refusing to wear their masks/comply with Navajo govt COVID executive orders at the lodge restaurant, which was an emergency. FYI, the Council has a definition for what is EMERGENCY LEGISLATION because Emergency Legislation does not got through the legislative process of being electronically posted for five-days for public comment before it’s legally ready to go before a committee and the Council for their official action. The sponsors also emphasized to the Council that the offer by RGJ Corporation would expire by midnight, New Year’s Eve… BUT here it is again. And with all the Misinformation surrounding this $60 MILLION Monument Valley Lodge & Tours, which involves – 670 acres, more or less, of fee and leasehold land, $7,140,000 earnest money deposit and $52,360,000 by cashier’s check or wire at time of closing, and a 2022 total tax liability amount of $407,910.56, which the Navajo Land Dept reported. The Navajo land dept, which supports this $60M purchase, also reported that $188,824 of the $407.9K has been paid.
I’ve been attending 25th Navajo Council committee meetings, where it’s reported that the Navajo govt is bleeding money and the estimated lost of blood/money is between $40M and $50M. Budget & Finance Committee member Amber Kanazbah Crotty said at the BFC meeting Tuesday, 3.7.23, that there was no more Travel Funds for the Navajo Council. During the final days of the 24th Navajo Council, Speaker Otto Tso approved travel and meetings for Council Delegates, including Lame Duck Delegates, to Washington, DC, Colorado, Twin Arrows, etc. Tso is now a Resources & Development Committee member. That Reminds me, during the Council’s Winter Session in January, the Council voted to accept the UPDATE on the AUDIT of the SPEAKER’S OFFICE. I requested a copy. I’m still WAITING for my copy.
