Yaa’teeh Abini Relatives/Frens/Humans, the temperatures across Mother Earth are soaring. It was 100 degrees in Window Rock, Ariz., 7.4.23. Mother Earth, Father Sky & all of Life are in need of Prayers for Wisdom, Understand, Patience & Intelligence in making decisions for All of Life and that their decision making/debate includes Climate Damage. It is no longer Climate Change; it is climate damage. Mother Earth & All of Life are experiencing Extreme Heat Waves. During the winter, it was Frigid Temperatures. Does our Navajo Nation Government Plan to Address Climate Damage? Does the Navajo Govt have a plan to Address the Current Heat Wave? A few years ago, in June, during Father’s Day, all of Life between the Sacred Mountains & on Mother Earth were suffering from an Extreme Heat Wave. Among the Solutions debated by the Navajo Council to address the Extreme Heat Wave was to issue Air-Conditioners…which was Never Done…
I drive around the Navajo Nation weekly. And some weeks, I’m driving almost daily around the Navajo Nation & I see a lot of our young adult Dine’ hitch-hiking, during the summer months. I was thinking that it would help our young adult Dine’ & get Dine’ across the Navajo Nation to work if Navajo Nation President Nygren & Navajo Nation Vice-President Montoya would issue an Executive Order for the Navajo Nation Transit to operate 24/7 with more Bus Routes. For more than 30 years, I have heard Navajo govt administration talk, talk, talk, talk about the Problem with Hired Qualified Dine’ because of the lack of housing in Window Rock & across the Navajo Nation. And if our Navajo Govt can’t provide 24/7 Transportation then at least set up Water Stations where people can get some relief. I’m sure that the Nygren-Montoya Administration has its Navajo Nation Division of Health’s Community Health Representatives out in the field checking on individuals who Do Not Have AC.
On another note, the Navajo Council Resources & Development Committee is scheduled to hear a Report from the Navajo Nation Division of Natural Resources Department of Agriculture, Navajo Nation Division of Natural Resources Department of Fish & Wildlife, and the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Current State of Affairs of the Grazing Permits for the Navajo Nation. Presenters: Leo Watchman, Jr., Department Manager, Department of Agriculture; Gloria Tom, Department Manager, Department of Fish & Wildlife; and Lester K. Tsosie, Superintendent, Eastern Navajo Agency, U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs.
The Staff from the Navajo Nation Dept of Agriculture have been meeting with Grazing Officials on proposed amendments to Title 3 of the Navajo Nation Code, which deals with grazing officials and grazing permits. At the meeting with grazing officials from the Fort Agency in June 2023, I did not see any of the individuals who are presenting on the Status of Grazing Permits to the Resources & Development Committee today, 7.5.23.
Ahe’hee for Keeping an Eye on Navajo Govt.
May Peace Prevail on Mother Earth!
