HERE AT NAVAJO COUNCIL’S FIRST DAY OF WINTER SESSION WHERE VICE PREZ JIM FINISHED STATE OF NATION ADDRESS AND NOW COUNCIL ASKING QUESTIONS.
DELEGATE LEONARD PETE
Many time, the Delegates have questions about State of Nation Address and they are rarely answered.
Also New Mexico has told Navajo Nation to properly account for all state funding and the only time we hear about this is when it is in the newspaper.
DELEGATE WITHERSPOON
Roads in my communities – Forest Lake, Black Mesa – are terrible. The wear and tear on vehicles, cost to schools, Headstart, police, hospitals is tremendous. Roads really need to be a priority for Shelly-Jim.
The health of the Navajo people needs to be address thru financial support for dialysis centers.
And to Delegate Tsinigine, a new Department of Health would not endanger federal funding for community health clinics.
DELEGATE NELSON BEGAYEAnd
And when talk about federal sequestration, there also needs to be discussion about the amount of federal dollars that are not spent by the Executive Branch divisions and programs and that are returned to the federal government.
And also we should be helping a Navajo mother who is about to have her children taken by the non-Navajo father to California. Two little girls are about to be extradited off the Navajo Reservation to California. We need to stop this. These are our children. These are our future. We cannot allow our children to be extradited. We have asked the tribal programs to help and all they say is you have to get a lawyer. This family cannot afford a family. Please help them. They are here. And the mother is a veteran.
