The Navajo Human Rights Commission is taking a break from their public hearings on Navajo gender violence and Violence against Navajo women and Navajo LGBTQs. The hearing ends at 5 pm here at the Navajo Nation Museum in Window Rock, Ariz. The next hearing is Jan. 15, 2014, at the Tuba City, Ariz., Chapter and the final hearing is at Shiprock, N.M., Chapter on Feb. 19, 2014.
The Navajo Council’s Naa’bik’iyati Committee is meeting at the Twin Arrows Casino and Resort, which is near Flagstaff, Ariz. According to a memo from Speaker Johnny Naize, there will be “confidential” legislation. I have learned that the confidential legislation concerns casinos and Navajo Transitional Energy Company, which is the tribal enterprise that the Council created to do all the final negotiations for BHP coal mine near Farmington, N.M.
And just found out a few minutes ago that the Speaker Naize finally released a proposed agenda for the Naabi meeting at Twin Arrows.
Navajo Transitional Energy Company is scheduled to present a Report on the status of the coal mine purchase. And Navajo Nation Gambling Czar Derrick Watchman is scheduled to present an Update Report on the Twin Arrows Casino & Resort, which is losing money but the Council keeps funding it because they say that they’ve invested too much money, millions, into the Twin Arrows

Hopefully, I’ll receive some donations for fuel for my vehicle to travel to Twin Arrows Casino & Resort.
