Greetings Relatives/Frens/Humans, If everything goes as scheduled according to the Naabik’iyati proposed agenda, the two meetings today should be very revealing.
The first meeting is with the Navajo Nation’s three branch chiefs: President Jonathan Nez, Speaker Seth Damon and Chief Justice JoAnn Jayne. The meeting is focused on proposed Navajo Council legislation 0116-20, which Council Delegate Edmund Yazzie is sponsoring. Legislation 0116-20 is the Nez-Lizer plan to spend the $600 million in CARES Act funding and according to some Council Delegates the Nez-Lizer expenditure plan does not include funding for the Nation’s 110 local governments or chapters, and the Judicial Branch.
The second meeting, which is scheduled for 2 p.m, is to hear an oral report from Navajo Transitional Energy Company, a Navajo Nation government business that recently laid off hundreds of coal miners at one of its three coal mines in Montana and Wyoming. Other news reports from Montana & Wyoming newspapers show that NTEC is in a serious financial crisis. NTEC decided to buy three coal mines during as time when the fossil fuels markets was in a tail spin and then COVID-19 hit…
NTEC was scheduled to go before the Naabik’iyati Friday, 6.12.20, but Navajo Council Delegates Pernall Halona & Edison Wauneka made a motion to move the Reports on Naabi’s proposed agenda to the end of the agenda and debate legislation first, which usually means there is a Huge changer that Naabi would not hear the Reports, which also included hearing from veterans. Halona & Wauneka also attempted to make NTEC’s oral report a Written Report which Naabi rejected.
