Navajo Election Board President says No Supreme Court decision, so Election continues

As soon as Navajo Election Board President Wallace Charley walks into the meeting room, he calls the meeting to order. Supervisor Harry Brown is asked to make the invocation. Charley then recognizes Fannie Atcitty, who is sitting in the audience. Atcitty is or was the running mate of disqualified presidential candidate Chris Deschene.

As far as decision from Navajo Supreme Court on the Writ of Mandamus, there isn’t anything and that comes from our attorney. Therefore this body, the election supervisors, wre elected into positions by large number of agencies believes and according to the elction law, the election process is still going, voting is still going.

After Charley makes his statement, Atcitty and several individuals exit the election board meeting.

Readings proposed legislation, Authorizing a referendum for Kayenta Chapter on the question of whether the chapter meeting quorum requirements should be lowered from 25 chapter registered voters to 19.

NO DEBATE. Election Board votes 8 in favor, 0 opposed.

RESOLUTION, Establishing filing deadline for vacant elective positions.
Only one question from Supervisor Frannie George about status of Lawrence Morgan. And after election office staff says that the matter has been resolved, Election Board President Charley calls for vote. VOTE IS 8 in favor, 0 opposed.
