New Gallup Indian Hospital TABLED

HERE AT NAABIK’IYATI COMMITTEE WHERE DEBATE CONTINUES ON LEGISLATION 0082-14, FEDERAL FUNDING FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW GALLUP INDIAN MEDICAL CENTER.

DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
I’m also concerned about what’s happening with Public Law 638 hospitals where CEOs are making between $200,000 and $300,000 and so there is no money for Ben-Gay. (PL 638 hospitals are those hospitals on the Navajo reservation that were under Indian Health Services but allowed to go under tribe and receive federal funding directly)

DELEGATE EDMUND YAZZIE
I’m not leap frogging! this is not going to impact priority lisitng. if I’m being considered to be leap frogger…

DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE
I didn’t accuse Delegate Yazzie of being leap frogger.

DELEGATE EDMUND YAZZIE
I’ll be respectful and just ask colleagues for support.

DELEGATE JONATHAN NEZ
Like i said 0082-14 is the official position of Navajo Nation and cud be used in a different fashion, not saying Delegate Edmund Yazzie. And Delegate Tsosie said budget formulation meetings continuing and i haven’t received answer of what funding year. if funding year early then it wud jump over other priority listings. I recommend that we ask for legislation from Health, Education and Human Services Committee to be brought over here before we act on 0082-14. And i’d rather that we all support this and not have split vote which is wat congress uses against us. so i’m asking for Tabling so we have all information on priority list and Health, education and Human services committee. SECOND DELEGATE LEONARD TSOSIE

POINT OF ORDER, DELEGATE SHEPHERD
Need specific time for when 0082-14 returns

DELEGATE NEZ
Second Naabi meeting in May 2014 and get report from Delegate Tsosie on Health Task Force.
DELEGATE TSOSIE
Ask Delegate Nez for report from IHS on Phoenix hospital where Navajo people’s health needs being reduced.

TABLING MOTION: BRING ALL INFORMATION, PRIORITY LISTING AND RESOLUTIONS, PRESIDENT OBAMA’S RECOMMEDED BUDGET AS WELL AS BACK TO NAABI MEETING SECOND MEETING IN MAY 2014.
10 IN FAVOR, 4 OPPOSED
