The Navajo Nation Council Naabik’iyati Committee has LEGISLATION 0045-17 on its proposed March 23, 2017, agenda.
Legislation 0045-17 would terminate the Sihasin Subcommittee, which is primarily Budget & Finance Committee members, and return authority to the full Naabik’iyati Committee on how the Navajo Nation $554 million settlement is spent.
The debate on whether to remove the Sihasin Subcommittee and return authority to the Naabik’iyati Committee involves criteria created by the Sihasin Subcommittee, which requires: Projects to address economic development, generate revenues, create jobs, be shovel ready, and project owners to have 30 percent equity with proof of funding.
